First Home Buyers

A first-home buyer looking to buy or build a new home for a maximum value of up to $750,000 may be eligible for a first-home owner grant of $10,000. The house must not have been previously sold or occupied.

Other Eligibility Criteria for FHOG:

  • Spouse or partner must not have received FHOG.
  • Spouse or partner must not have lived in a home owned on or after 1st July 2000 for a continuous period of at least six months.
  • Spouse of partner must not have owned a home or any residential property prior to 1 July 2000.
  • Applicant must be 18 years of age.
  • At least one applicant must be an Australian citizen or an Australian Permanent resident.
  • Applicants must live in the house for 12 months after settlement except for defence forces, who are exempted.
  • Established homes are no longer eligible for FHOG.
